YOUTH Joshua Bethume signed his first professional contract with Anderlecht last Friday on his 15th birthday. Bethume is part of the very talented 2009 generation.
Bethume is a versatile player who can play both in midfield and at right back. "Joshua is a modern, dynamic and versatile young player. He combines a good mentality with excellent ball skills," said academy director Mikkel Hemmersam. "We look forward to following his development in the coming seasons."
The 15-year-old Bethume, who has been playing for Anderlecht for eight years, signed a contract until 2027. He will play for Anderlecht's U18 team next season.
Earlier this year, goalkeeper Mattis Seghers and 2009-born midfielder Rune Verstrepen also signed professional contracts. In the article on the club website, Anderlecht describes the 2009 generation as "one of the most promising age categories.
