YOUTH Once again, a young, promising player signs a three-year professional contract with Anderlecht. Today it is the turn of Devon De Corte. The 18-year-old American Belgian came to Anderlecht from the States last summer. He has already made 12 appearances for the Futures in 1B.

De Corte, who celebrated his 18th birthday in May, has a Belgian father and American mother. Last summer, he traded Philadelphia Union for Anderlecht. He started with the U18, but moved up to the Futures around the winter break. From the beginning of February, he was allowed to appear in 12 duels. Four times he started in the starting lineup and he scored against Seraing.

"Devon is technically gifted and has good game insight. He plays as a midfielder and has all the qualities needed for a box-to-box player," said Mikkel Hemmersam, director of the Academy. "The special thing about Devon is his mentality. He is always eager to learn and wants to improve. We are curious about his development at the club."

De Corte is currently training with the A-core ahead of the new season. Last Wednesday he also appeared in action in the first practice game against Tubize-Braine. He will continue to develop next season with the Futures in 1B.
