The future of the Mauves

Anderlecht have lost points again, this time against Lokeren. A good thing for the Mauves was the fact that Standard lost their game. It would be good if Anderlecht could win the title, because next season is one big question mark

Anderlecht did many transfers to win the title and to qualify for the Champions League. But it is not clear yet which players will stay in Brussels at the end of this season. Kompany, Vanden Borre, Jestrovic, Tihinen and Wilhelmsson will probably leave the team. Pär Zetterberg is retiring after this season, and whether Serhat Akin will stay or not is a question mark.

So there are not many key players left. And also on the bench some players will leave. Does Baseggio still have a future in Anderlecht? And will the 34-year-old Besnik Hasi keep playing? Lovré and Zewlakow already announced that they will not extend their contracts, which will both expire at the end of this season. Also Peersman, Traoré and Gerk are reaching the end of their contracts.

Manager Herman Van Holsbeeck is searching for several reïnforcements. The Argentinian striker Nicolas Alejandro Frutos was landed, and also the Chinese talent Chen Tao will probably come to Brussels. Joao Carlos of Lokeren seems to be a reïnforcement for the Mauves defence.

If Anderlecht manage to hold Serhat Akin in Brussels, he might make a good duo with Frutos. And also Mbo Mpenza is a strong striker. In the defence, Juhasz, Deman and Deschacht seem like a good basis. Most problems will be in the midfield.

Bart Goor seems a key player for the next season, but will Yves Vanderhaeghe, who is turning 36, hold this level? Maybe Walter Baseggio will get his chance. And Marius Mitu and Laurent Delorge can also play an important role.
