YOUTH The CIES published today an overview of the youth academies that generated the most transfer money in the past ten years. With a sum of 179 million euros, Anderlecht ranks 25th in that list.
The CIES looks over the last ten years. Players who play at least three years in youth training between the ages of 15 and 21 qualify.
Little surprise, Benfica takes the crown with 516 million euros. It is followed by Ajax (376 million euros), Lyon (370 million euros), Real Madrid (364 million euros) and Chelsea (347 million euros).
Anderlecht is in place 25. Over the past 10 years, 25 youth players earned transfer fees. From 2014 to 2018, 68 million euros came in, from 2019 to 2023 it was 112 million euros.
Besides Anderlecht, there are two more Belgian clubs in the top 100 with Club Brugge and Standard. They each collected 72 million euros through the sale of their own youth products.
