GAMES Racing Genk announced this morning that it is filing a complaint with the Referee Department following yesterday's penalty shootout saga against Anderlecht. "A correct application of the rules and the replay of the match is the only correct decision in this matter," the Limburgers report.

"During Saturday night's match against Anderlecht, the referee team made a wrong decision after a penalty kick phase. Yira Sor kicked in a stopped penalty kick by Bryan Heynen in the recovery. That penalty kick should have been retaken, according to the rules. KRC Genk is filing a complaint with the Referee Department for this."

VAR will provide explanation on Thursday

Het Nieuwsblad meanwhile reports that VAR Jan Boterberg will explain the phase in question in 'Under Review' on Thursday, December 28. 'Under Review' is the referees' weekly review of some questionable phases of the previous match day.
