Verschueren resigns from board of directors

OTHER Michael Verschueren is resigning from Anderlecht. After more than 13 years, the son of Mister Michel is resigning from the club's board of directors. "Michael will soon take up a new challenge within international football that requires complete independence," Anderlecht reports.


"I have always tried to help shape this beautiful club, following the example of some powerful football leaders before my time," Verschueren said in a reaction. "I would like to express my sincere thanks to the fans, directors and sponsors of the club for their trust during the past years."

The new position Verschueren will take up cannot be combined with the role of director at one particular club. "The time has come to put my energy at the service of further developing the international football landscape," concludes Verschueren.

Michael Verschueren's departure marks the end of an era. Since the arrival of father Michel in 1980, there was always a Verschueren active at the club.
