Anderlecht supporter passed away last night

Very sad news was to be reported after the match against Cercle Brugge. An Anderlecht supporter had become unwell during the match and had to be resuscitated on the spot on the main stand. The man later died in hospital and the players and staff only heard the news after the match. Brian Riemer spoke afterwards of a sad evening and that the team's thoughts are with the family of the deceased supporter. Read more »

Thomas Delaney, the 32-year-old Danish midfielder, is on loan from Spain's Sevilla with an option to buy amounting to €3 million. RSC Anderlecht has obtained its licence, but will be monitored monthly by the licensing commission. The club has also been granted a European licence for the coming season. To meet the requirements, Anderlecht must provide monthly documents on salary payments, financial situation, changes in the current account and owner's funds. Despite losing yesterday, their closest competitor Union suffered their fourth consecutive defeat, this time against Club Brugge (1-2). Anderlecht currently have the highest average number of Belgians in the base, with 6.3. With Debast, Vertonghen, Sardella, Stroeykens, Hazard (or Verschaeren or Amuzu) and Rits, it also boasts a high number of home-grown Belgian players. The Pro League has announced the calendar of the playoffs. The Champions playoffs begin on Saturday, March 30, with Anderlecht's game against Antwerp. The following week, Purple and White can head to Bruges for the first time for the away game against Club. The Champions play-offs end on May 26. There is a midweek playing day at the end of April. The Disciplinary Committee of the KBVB punished Anderlecht last week for the problems with supporters in the cup match against Standard in December. Standard also received the same punishment.
