Will Anderlecht stadium soon get a new name?

OTHER At the end of this season, the sponsorship agreement with the National Lottery expires. Het Nieuwsblad knows that negotiations for an extension are difficult. The lottery would not want to pay the same amount than before. And so is the possibility that the stadium will change its name.


In 2018, Anderlecht concluded a five-year sponsorship agreement with the national lottery. According to Het Nieuwsblad, Anderlecht received 1.35 million euros annually for the entire package. That included hospitality (tickets, food and drink, ...), visibility of the name in all sorts of places, activities (with the players ...) and thus also the name of the stadium.

At the National Lottery, however, they doubt that sponsoring a major soccer club is part of their core business. The National Lottery is a public company and one of its core tasks is to sponsor social, cultural, sports and scientific projects.

According to Het Nieuwsblad, the National Lottery would like to continue as Anderlecht's sponsor, but for a lesser amount. And whoever pays less, gets less. The next few weeks should bring clarity, but it could just be that the Lotto Park will soon have a new name.
