Kouamé leads Anderlecht to semi-finals

GAMES Without much effort Anderlecht qualified for the semi-finals of the Belgian Cup at the expense of Kortrijk. Anderlecht won with 3-0. Christian Kouamé scored twice, but Amir Murillo also deserves a mention for the great game he played.


For this cup match, coach Kompany again chose the same team that had performed so well the past few weeks. From the kick-off Anderlecht took the lead. That led to a lot of ball possession, but initially not to any great opportunities. Kouamé kicked wide and Refaelov found Delle's fists on his way. 

Just past the half hour the goal did come. After ball loss of Kortrijk, Olsson found Zirkzee. The Dutchman immediately sent striker Kouamé deep and he did not miss: 1-0. A few minutes later Kouamé was able to get in front of Delle again after a short ball back, but the goalkeeper made it. The 2-0 was scored before half time. Murillo reached the back line. His cross found Gomez, who did not miss.

After the break there was danger from Kortrijk. Selemani firstly kicked just wide, but a bit later Van Crombrugge had to intervene on a dangerous lay-off by Mbayo. Anderlecht reacted through Murillo, but his shot went over the goal line on the wrong side of the post. A bit later, the very strong playing Panamanian had another good chance, but he had to swerve too far to make the rebound of a shot by Refaelov dangerous.

Otherwise, little happened after the break. Anderlecht didn't press too much and Kortrijk couldn't do much offensively. Twenty minutes before the end, Kouamé decided the match after a cross from Verschaeren: 3-0.
