OTHER In a message on the official club website, Anderlecht has given more clarification on the racist incidents on Sunday in Bruges. "The behavior of a few casts a shadow over Belgian soccer," it also sounds.
"At several times during the match, members of our coaching staff were racially targeted by individuals in the crowd. Players also received insults of a racist nature while warming up on the sidelines," Anderlecht reported.
"The behavior of a few casts a shadow over Belgian soccer. That such insults resound in a soccer stadium is something we cannot tolerate as a society. By naming and condemning these incidents, the club wants to make clear that racism has no place whatsoever in our soccer stadiums and beyond."
"Values much more important than results"
On Instagram, Peter Verbeke, head of sports at Anderlecht, adds another important statement. "The values we pass on to our children are much more important than the result of a soccer match," he writes.
