"This football demands good feet"

OTHER After matchday 1, Peter Vandenbempt gave his vision on Sporza about what happened on the fields. Vandenbempt rightly blows cold and warm over the false start of Purple & White against KV Oostende.

For example, Vandenbempt saw a promising start for Anderlecht with speed on the flank, chances and pace. He also thinks that Vlap left a good impression. "There was an exuberant, kind of fair-like atmosphere in the stands," said the man from the radio. That was different compared to last season and the hope remained intact until the break. Vandenbempt noted that Anderlecht were sinking, but also that the defeat could have been avoided, because there were still some chances for the home team. Because of this defeat, however, there will again be doubt and disappointment among the supporters.

Vandenbempt realizes that this is the way Kompany wants to play and that (currently) this should only happen with a very young team, with possible consequences. There is still a lot of work to do and Kompay's football requires technical ability and intelligence. Not everyone achieves that standard according to Vandenbempt, because in Belgium you regularly come across intelligent opponents.

"This football requires good feet," Vandenbempt adds, "and goalkeeper Didillon certainly does not have it." He also found Bornauw and Cobbaut uncertain in defense. Kompany has already experienced in Manchester City that the beginning can be difficult, but if he wants to bring this football, then extra quality is also needed.

Kompany came to explain it to the fans after the match, but they must first of all realize that they have started a radical reconstruction. Drawing conclusions after one day of play is not smart, but the basis must be laid again to become a real top club again.
