OTHER If it depends on Marc Coucke, the minimum number of Belgians on the match sheet must be lowered. According to the Anderlecht chairman, there are too few good Belgian players to comply with this.

Anderlecht paid 3 million euros for Elias Cobbaut, Club Brugge spent as much on Siebe Schrijvers. That is a lot of money to keep young Belgians here. From July 1st, the Belgian rule in the Jupiler Pro League will become more strict. Then you have to put six Belgians or Belgium-trained players on the match sheet of whom two has been playing in our country for at least three years before their 21st birthday.

According to Marc Coucke, this rule is counterproductive. "Call me thirty Belgian players who are affordable and good enough for Anderlecht and Club Brugge, not easy," said the chairman. He wants to change this rule.

According to Coucke, we will eventually have to go to 5 or even 4 Belgians on the match sheet. "Anderlecht are giving young people opportunities, just look at Saelemaekers, but it must remain bearable," says Coucke.
