The purple-white career of Roef had a stormy start. On May 10, 2015, on match day seven of the playoffs at home against Club Brugge he came in the team, after a controversial suspension for Silvio Proto. Roef, however, played a great game. 'The Roef is on fire' was born.

In the 2016-2017 season, Roef became Anderlecht's first goalkeeper. At the end of November, René Weiler, however, victimized him after a few mistakes. In January 2017, he surprisingly went to the Spanish Deportivo La Coruña, where he had no view on minutes of play.

In an interview with this site, Roef said: "At that moment I was a goalkeeper without confidence who had a less good first round. The clubs were not in line. Deportivo was then one of the only concrete options. If I look back now, I learned a lot there. I have found my trust and faith. Even though I only played one game, I have no regrets that I made that choice at the time. "

Last season, Roef played for Waasland-Beveren. He immediately forced place in the starting eleven and played a strong season. A return to the Astridpark as the first goalkeeper was never discussed. The 'Leeuwen' extended his loan by one season and also stipulated a purchase option.

The chance that Roef will return to Anderlecht therefore seems small. If he plays a strong season next year, the Waaslanders will lift his option. If he can not meet the expectations, Anderlecht will no longer have room for him.

Anderlecht will more than likely continue with Matz Sels, Frank Boeckx and a new third goalkeeper.
