It seemed to be only a matter of time before Tottenham Hotspur and its coach Martin Jol went their separate ways. Tonight's 1-2 loss against Getafe proved to be the last straw.

Jermaine Defoe had brought Tottenham ahead but Getafe scored the equaliser almost immediately. Late into the game Braulio scored the winning goal for the Spanish side.

Apparently, Martin Jol had agreed with the Tottenham board prior to the game to step down as coach. The London club are currently fighting degradation in the Premier League.
