Mbokani leaves Anderlecht for Standard

Mbokani has left the club. He signed a three-year contract for Standard. The young player hopes to get more chances in Liège than in Brussels. He's not happy about the way Anderlecht handled his transfer.


"According to my contract, I should have gotten an appartment and a car. But I had to leave my appartment when a mother from another player came to visit her son. I stayed in a hotel for two months. I was very unhappy."

"I'm going to score a lot of goals for Standard. I'll prove Anderlecht wrong. Many talented players will leave Anderlecht because they don't get a chance."

Anderlecht manager Van Holsbeeck replied: "The only reason why he's leaving is because he'll get more chances to play in Standard. We made him a good offer, but he refused. We invested a lot in him, but he didn't behave well. He started playing well when we moved him out of his appartment. That's when his eyes opened..."
