Aruna wins Golden Shoe 2003

The Yvorian player Aruna Dindane of Anderlecht has won the Golden Shoe 2003 Wednesday. He is the first Afrikan player ever to win this trophy.

The 50st Golden Shoe Gala took place in the Concertbuilding in Bruges. The election wasn't a thriller, Aruna was the big favourite.

Aruna had a big lead on his team member Walter Baseggio and Mbo Mpenza (Moeskroen). Aruna ended in the election of 'Het Laatste Nieuws' with 494 points. Baseggio got 116, Mbo Mpenza 109. The winner of the previous edition, Timmy Simons (Club Bruges), was forth with 99 points. The 17-years old Vincent Kompany was with 77 points the 3th player of Anderlecht in the top-5.
