Ex-Anderlecht player Marius Mitu demands wages that would have been paid had the player's contract not been broken last year. Mitu was involved in a match-fixing scandal that shook Belgian football to its very foundation.

Around this time in 2006, it came to light that Mitu was involved in match-fixing and bribery while playing for Lierse. After these revelations his contract with the club was promptly broken. Now that Mitu won an important trial to the disadvantage of the Belgian Footbal Federation, he is after the wages he would have been paid had his contract not been broken.

Anderlecht manager Herman Van Holsbeeck has responded and declared that the club would appeal to a higher court if necessary. "Ex-Anderlecht and Ex-Lierse player Laurent Delorge, who was involved in the very same incidents, tried the same but lost the case," said Van Holsbeeck.
