A few days ago, the Anderlecht board announced that Vanderhaeghe can leave the club if he wants to. Though the club is prepared to offer him a contract of one more year so he can guide the younger players.

The B-team of Anderlecht impressed chairman Vanden Stock and manager Van Holsbeeck by beating Betis. Therefore, the club wants to keep Vanderhaeghe as a mentor for the younger players. "Yves has proven his value in the past, but we must think about the future", said Van Holsbeeck.

"We'll make an evaluation in January. We want to offer Yves a contract for one more year, but he must understand that he won't be able to play every game anymore", he continued.

"I can still go on at high level for another 3 years. I'm the victime of the best prestations of the team. Last year, I saved the season. I'd love to stay, but I don't have a lot of social contacts like Pär Zetterberg for example", Vanderhaeghe reacted.
