YOUTH A third of all playing minutes this season in the league at Anderlecht will go to home-grown players. That's according to a calculation by the CIES. In the Belgian league, only STVV is doing better.

After the busy transfer summer and the arrival of a lot of older and experienced players, there was a perception that Anderlecht had changed course and was no longer playing the youth card. The CIES figures prove otherwise. During the first 14 league games this season, 32.7 percent of all playing time went to club-trained players. Only STVV does better with 34.9 percent.

For the CIES, a self-trained player must have played at least three years for the club between the ages of 15 and 21.

Anderlecht called on eight self-trained players this season: Zeno Debast (1,134 playing minutes), Killian Sardella (1,116), Theo Leoni (1,011), Francis Amuzu (540), Mario Stroeykens (514), Kristian Arnstad (171), Marco Kana (20) and Hannes Delcroix (6).

With eight, Anderlecht leads this ranking. Standard follows with seven and KV Mechelen with six. STVV, like Club Brugge, fielded five home-grown players (but they play more each individually, therefore).
