Icelandic goalkeeper in the picture

TRANSFERS Het Laatste Nieuws reports that Anderlecht is looking to strengthen with an additional goalkeeper in the coming months. Icelander Hákon Valdimarsson is said to be in the picture for this purpose. Valdimarsson is 22 years old and is currently first goalkeeper at Swedish side Elfsborg.


Valdimarsson has played for Elfsborg since July 2021 and emerged as number one between the posts there a year later. In January 2022, he also became an international for Iceland. His tally now stands at four international games. During the European Championship qualifiers this year, he was always in the core, but did not play. With the Icelandic U21, however, he was a regular last year.

Valdimarsson is under contract at Elfsborg until 2027. His market value is estimated at €1.2 million.
