Anderlecht again best training club in Belgium

YOUTH The International Centre for Sports Studies (CIES) has published a list of the clubs that have trained the most players currently active in the world's 48 major leagues. With 50 players the best of all Belgian clubs.


To qualify, the player must be part of the A core of a club playing in one of the world's 48 major championships on Oct. 1. A youth player is considered a player who played for the club for at least three years between the ages of 15 and 21.

With fifty players formed in Neerpede, Anderlecht is the leader in Belgium. Seven of those fifty currently still play for purple and white. Following Anderlecht are Standard (44) and Genk (32). For the rest, there are no Belgian clubs in the list. In past years Anderlecht also topped this list in terms of Belgian clubs.

Leader globally is Ajax with 86. It is followed by Benfica (85), Sporting Lisbon (83), Uruguayan Defensor (82) and Boca Juniors (81).
