Kompany won the Golden Shoe tonight. The 18-years old defender of Anderlecht had no real competition. Luigi Pieroni (Moeskroen/Auxerre) was second and Marius Mitu (Lierse) third.

Kompany is the second youngest winner. Only Paul Van Himst (1960 and 1961) does better. He ended up with 507 points. Luigi Pieroni scored 403 points less. Mitu ended 3rd with 71 points.

The gap between the first and the second was never this big. The last record was established last year by Aruna Dindane, who has 378 points more than Walter Baseggio.

Another Anderlecht player, Wilhelmsson, ended 4th.
