Farewell Raymond

The football world said good-bye to Raymond Goethals Monday. In the basilica of Koekelberg were more than 1000 people present at Goethals' funeral.


Paul Van Himst, Georges Heylens, Odilon Polleunis, Christian Piot, Robbie Rensenbrink and Basile Boli carried the coffin. There were many flower garlands at the entree, among others from former Marseille-chairman Tapie.

Also premier Guy Verhofstadt and Flemish minister of Sports Bert Anciaux witnessed the funeral. Musician Toots Thielemans played a harmonica song.
