Belgium lost the game against Spain with 2-0. Everything went well until Deflandre got red. The Belgians even ended with 9 players when Goor was sent off. That way, referee Nielsen brought himself into the picture again.

Peersman already made a mistake after 35 minutes, but Torres couldn't score.
Belgium created danger on the counter-attack with Mpenza, Buffel and Kompany.

When Van Buyten tackled Reyes in the box, the Red Devils escaped from a penalty. A bit later, Deflandre got a yellow for a foul and immediatly after it another yellow one. This time for yelling something at the referee it seems: red for the defender.
The Belgians never came into real trouble with 10, but after one hour of play Kompany lost the ball. Van Buyten took a wrong position and Luque scored: 1-0.

3 minutes later, Raul doubled the score when Kompany couldn't reach the ball with his head: 2-0.
Nielsen gave red to Goor for spitting at a Spaniard.

Baraja came close to the 3-0 but Peersman saved. A bit later Raul scored, but he had pushed away the goalkeeper, so the match ended on 2-0.
