Ronald Vargas is leaving Anderlecht. The club wanted to extend his deal, but at a lower salary. Player and club couldn't find an agreement though, which means Vargas will leave.

Vargas earned around 800.000 euro per season in Anderlecht. Since he only played in 20% of the games last season, and mainly as a replacement, Anderlecht proposed him a salary decrease of 30% and a new contract for two years. Vargas was prepared to earn a bit less, but the suggested amount by Anderlecht was not high enough though.

Since both sides could not find an agreement, Vargas will most likely leave in June, when his current deal ends. New coach Hasi also doesn't seem to be a huge fan of Vargas. Despite being fully fit, Hasi prefered giving Sacha Kljestan and Fabrice N'Sakala a chance to play against Bruges instead of Vargas.

Where his future lies is yet unknown. Seen his history of injuries and his high salary demands, he'll probably look for a team outside Belgium. The American New York Red Bulls is an option. The club already showed interest in January. Also clubs from Qatar and the UAE are following him. But seen his transfer free status, a European club might even take a gamble and offer him a contract.
