The coach stays, also after Friday's defeat

Manager Van Holsbeeck confirmed that Van den Brom stays. "Until the end of the season at least", he added. But why is the club keeping faith in a trainer that lost 8 matches in the league already?

First of all, the coach is not the only one the blame. His frequent swapping and changing formations is certainly worth arguing about. But it has to be noted that Van den Brom also lacks quality in his team. During last summer, most important players were sold. Milivojevic was bought as a replacement for Biglia, but the Serbian player is not even in the selection anymore. Mitrovic is a costly player, but with his 18 years old he is probably too young to bring the necessary fire in Anderlecht's offensive line all by himself. During the winter, Van Holsbeeck recognised the problem: "We are lacking leadership and experience", he stated. "We will get two more players", he said. But the manager was not able to land a serious reinforcement and recently rated the winter transfer window with a 0 on 10.

With 8 defeats, this season is already the worst in 16 years. Such a poor level of play is unseen in Anderlecht, yet the crowd also remains relatively silent. The signs of a decaying club? Could be...

For the first time since the start of the play-offs, the Anderlecht management is happy with the system. They see it as an opportunity to come back into the title race. But be careful what you wish for! A certain European ticket can also be lost in the play-offs!
