Coach John Van den Brom will stay until the end of the season. That is what manager Van Holsbeeck announced today. Yesterday, the coach was targetted by the fans during the game. "Anti-football" and "Anti-Van den Brom" was chanted

Van den Brom has lost a lot of credit with the fans, especially because of his experimental line-ups and frequent swapping of players. After almost a full season, the coach still seems to be looking for the most efficient line-up and this angers the fans.

After a humiliating Champions League campaign and an early elimination in the Cup, also the regular league seems to be lost for Anderlecht. Yet the players are still supporting their coach. After yesterday's game, a few called out to the fans for support.

Vanden Borre: "Some players are really impacted by the booing and hissing. I can understand the fans' reaction, but it does not help the team forward. On the contrary; it even lowers our self-esteem further."

Deschacht: "The hissing of the fans does not make things easy for us. But can you blame them? We are not playing well."

Van den Brom: "During the game I am focussed on the match itself. But I am not an idiot. I do hear what is going on. My job is to work with the team, not with our supporters. But we do need them to get more confident again."
