"Unfortunately it didn't work out in Anderlecht"

Today, Anderlecht has to play on the pitch of Waasland-Beveren. It will be a special match for the home player René Sterckx: he played in his entire youth for Anderlecht. "Hopefully I will get my chance to play".


In Anderlecht he used to be the captain of the team U21. Then he was lend to Zulte-Waregem for two seasons. But he didn't play for one year because of a severe knee injury. Last summer he returned to Anderlecht. "But I couldn't get into the A-squad, eventhough I was fit to play", says Sterckx.

When Anderlecht hired De Zeeuw (in the winter break of 2013) and Biglia stayed, he decided to be lend to Waasland-Beveren where signed a contract for three years this summer. "Unfortunately it didn't work out for me in Anderlecht, but maybe I can move to a better team in the future."

So far this season, he only started matches from the bench. He hopes to be in the starting line-up against Anderlecht. Besides, he thinks it's the right moment to play against Anderlecht because Anderlecht lost some important players and didn't hire many new players.
