Mbokani will probably leave Anderlecht in January or at the end of the season. The Congolese striker refused the new contract Anderlecht offered him. The Brussels' club gave him a salary of 2.5 million per year after taxes.

That salary would have been an absolute record for a Belgian club. Yet, it doesn't seem enough for Mbokani, who was able to relaunch his career thanks to a transfer to Anderlecht last year. And after all, it's all about the money...

What could have been the reasons?
1. Mbokani came to Anderlecht to relaunch his career. Helping the Mauves to a title and a Champions League ticket, seem to have done the trick. So in Mbokani's mind, his job in Brussels is done.

2. Accepting the offer would raise the transfer fee. The new salary came with an extended stay in Brussels. This would raise the transfer price and thus limit his possibilities on a quick transfer.

3. The salary might not be good enough after all... 2.5 million is a record for Belgium and a serious proof of appreciation, but larger English or Russian teams might offer up to 4 million per year.
