This weekend, it was 25 years ago that Ludo Coeck died in a car accident. Ludo Boom Boom was one of Belgium's best players ever. He had a fantastic career in Anderlecht and for the national team.

Full of talent, Coeck started his professional career in the second division with Berchem Sport. He made his debute there and was brought to Anderlecht just one year later. He was seventeen years old at that time. Two years later he was selected for the national team. He scored 4 goals in 46 international games.

Also in Anderlecht he was loved by the fans and trainer. With many great goals, he brought the Brussels' club national and international successes.

Ludo Coeck never won the Golden Shoe. In 1982, he ended second after Eric Gerets.
His career was marked with bad luck, being injured at the ankle and knee many times...

You can find a description of his career and two video clips of Ludo Coeck under Club > Star players (Dutch, French and English only!).
