Five players of Anderlecht aren’t playing the Kirin Cup. Also Standard announced they don’t want to have their players play that Cup-game. The football league isn’t too happy with that and finds it a lack of respect.

“There was, however, an oral agreement that whoever would win the test game would let some players go to Japan. The loser didn’t have to,” CEO Jean-Marie Philips says. "Standard send us a fax saying the players won’t come because it’s not an official FIFA – tournament and because they are tired and need rest for next season. It’s too bad they think like this.”

At Anderlecht Gillet, Schollen, De Sutter, Deschacht and Van Damme cancelled. Remarkable is that also Olivier Deschacht isn’t joining the Red Devils, whereas last week he even wanted to cancel his vacation.
