Gillet: "Winning the cup would be wonderful"

Next Sunday, Anderlecht will meet AA Ghent in the cup final, the late club of Guillaume Gillet. "I am glad for them that they were able to reach the cup final", tells Guillaume Gillet.

"I kept a lot of friends at Ghent that I see very often, since I still live there. Of course, next sunday I hope to win the cup with Anderlecht", says the midfield player. "Winning the cup would be really great"

After a lesser first round, a splendid second round followed for Anderlecht. "We played a very strong second round", realizes Gillet. "The atmosphere in the team is splendid as well." There were a few deceptions, though. "Especially the game against Zulte Waregem that we lost 1-0 is haunting me. If we had got three points there or even just one, we might have been able to make things a little more difficult for Standard."

Gillet isn't part of the selection for the Olympic Games, but that doesn't bother him. "I've always said that if I was selected I would be glad, and if I wasn't selected, I wouldn't be deceived.", so Gillet. "I will prepare the game against Italy with the national team now and play the qualification games with Anderlecht for the Champion's League. I prefer those matches myself above those at the Olympic Games."
