We could not set things straight, says Van Damme

The excitement after ensuring qualification in the UEFA Cup, came to a halt last night when Anderlecht lost to Zulte-Waregem. "It would've been ideal to win this weekend, too bad we failed," said defender Jelle Van Damme.

Van Damme had been warned about a difficult game. "It's not easy to play a team as defensive as Zulte-Waregem. We concede a goal fifteen minutes into the game, but have enough time to set things right. Unfortunately, we failed to do so," said the left-back.

"In the final phase we got a chance to at least win a point, but Hassan's penalty hit the post. He took his responsability, too bad he missed," sighed Van Damme.

The ex-Ajax player remains optimistic, however, and continues to believe in the title. "Winning the title is still a possibility. There are still 11 more games, who knows what can happen in those matches."

Anderlecht is trailing 11 points behind leaders Club Bruges.
