Scottish side Aberdeen held Bayern Munich to a 2-2 stalemate in their Round of 32 UEFA Cup first leg. The travelling side were heavy favorites against the men from Pittodrie, however they have to settle with two away goals.

Aberdeen started brightly and took the lead thanks to Josh Walker but Bayern battled back and equalised when Klose scored in the 29th minute as he found the top corner following Toni's head-on.

However just as it looked like the Bundesliga leaders would go in half-time level, Aberdeen regained the lead through Sone Aluko, who made the score 2-1 with a low finish underneath the body of Bayern keeper Michael Rensing.

A controversial second-half penalty decision rescued a draw for Bayern as Hamit Altintop levelled from the spot after referee Eduardo Gonzalez had penalised Alan Maybury for handball.

The Aberdeen manager Calderwood said: "We were hoping to make a wee bit of history and if we had won the game we would have, but we've still got a chance.

"The tie is far from over and we have nothing to lose...It's all about confidence and belief that we can do it. Good teams let you play and you need to have confidence to go and play, although obviously you have to defend well."
