After the defeat in the topper, the press made up a lot of stories about Aruna's destiny. Some say he is over the top, others say he has a mental problem or that he is exhausted.

According to his manager the Ivorian has a mental problem. "The incident with the handcuffs was too much for him."
Aruna got arrested at the end of January after he and his sister had paid with a false banknote of 500 euro. "He was in jail for 5 hours, without any reason. Mentally, that was worse for him than expected", says manager Trimpont.
"When he came home at night, his son had physical problems. He had to go to the hospital for two weeks. That was very difficult for Aruna."

Also Pär Zetterberg wants to react: "We still tell a lot of jokes. He doesn't tell anything about private problems. On the contrary, he laughs alot. But I have a feeling that he is tired. He made a lot of efforts in the first round, that now has some consequences."
According to coach Hugo Broos, the Golden Shoe is the reason. "After the election, there were 62 invitations. But he has to fight against the idea that he is tired."

Also Aruna wanted to clear out some things: "I'm just tired. I haven't had a holiday since 2002, and that's what causes the problems. I'm a sprinter-football player, who always goes to the limit. The pitches are very bad. And then there's the Golden Shoe, with many emotions and invitations. There's also a mental change. Before the Golden Shoe, people said I played a good match after a bad one. If I play on a normal level now, they say I played bad."

Raymond Goethals says Aruna is over his top. "If I were Anderlecht, I would hope he doesn't get injured, and let him leave this summer. Nothing guarantees that he will be as good as now the next season."
