Madrid won with 5-1 from Espanyol de Barcelona. This was the first victory of Real in the league. Because of this Real leaves the bottom of the ranking.


Zidane, who is suspended for the Champions league, scored the first goal. Roberto Carlos doubled the score and before the break it was 3-0 thanks to Figo (pen). It should have been 4-0, but the goal from Ra?l was falsely not approved.
