Vercauteren: "Aalborg refused to play football"

After the disappointing result Vercauteren vented his frustration. The Anderlecht coach had little positive to say about Aalborg's manner of play. "They only know one kind of football: kick and rush."


"It's difficult to play against a team like that," said a frustrated coach in Het Nieuwsblad. "They had their chances as well but you can't call them a good team."

Vercauteren considers Getafe and Tottenham to be the best teams in Group G and expects them to defeat Aalborg and Hapoel Tel-Aviv. Which is one of the reasons the coach deemed this game so important. "This is a let down. I was hoping to rest some players against Getafe and Tottenham and give other players opportunities."
