“We are going to qualify,” Roger Vanden Stock opened. “If the team plays well, everything will be possible. But there’s a lot of pressure, and that’s normal. We had a lot of expectations at the beginning of the season."

The chairman knows that the biggest problem of Anderlecht is that they can’t score. “Against Genk and Charleroi the players did all they could. We weren’t very lucky, the ball isn’t rolling right for us. We will never complain when a goal gets rejected but against Zulte Waregem and Charleroi, valuable point were taken from us.”

“The Champions League is over. And we will have to do our best to stay in de UEFA Cup. Everything that has been said and written the past few weeks has increased the pressure. There’s only one place where the players are able to give an answer on all the comments: on the field! We have a better team then Rapid.”

If Anderlecht fail, it would be a new disappointment for Belgian football. “The ball rolls in the wrong direction. I’ve already said it 4 years ago, we have to adjust the infrastructure to the European standards, or it will be over soon. But we are still ambitious. The day that Anderlecht stops being ambitious, we can stop the Belgian League.”
