According to Anderlecht-manager Herman Van Holsbeeck, Anderlecht and Mbo Mpenza have a gentlemen's agreement for the next season. Now it's clear why the transfers to Club Bruges and Standard didn't go through.

"We have a gentlemen's agreement with Mbo Mpenza", says Anderlecht-manager Herman Van Holsbeeck. Now it's clear why the transfers to Club Bruges and Standard didn't go through. The deal already dates from the time Club Bruges was interested in him. Then, we went to Mbo Mpenza and we told him he was our first choice if Aruna would leave after this season. He gave us his word then with a clear: "Oké, then I won't go to Bruges." It's a good thing he has a preference for us."
Chairman Detremmerie of Moeskroen on the contrary, wants Mbo to leave as quick as possible. He is sick of the player after the Standard-soap. Also coach Georges Leekens and Mpenza-avocate Denis are involved in this quarrel. While Detremmerie claims Mbo called Standard himself, Leekens and Denis claim the player wants to stay in Moeskroen.
