Baseggio looking to leave in January

At the last day of the transfer period, Baseggio was close to a three-year deal with Standard. However, the club was not eager to see its player leave for the rivals of Liège. The midfielder is thus still stuck in Brussels.


"I'm still here because Anderlecht did not let me play where I wanted to," says Baseggio. Chairman Vanden Stock did not want to see him leave for the rivals of Standard. "I have a lot of respect for Charleroi and Mons but I want to play on a higher level if I can."

This season Baseggio hasn't played any official games yet. "I have qualities that other players on the field don't have. I'm convinced I could still add something to the team."
