A visibly emotional Aruna Dindane won the Golden Shoe Wednesday. Each and every one said the trophy was deserved, and Aruna was very happy about it.

"This is a tremendous honor for me, but also for my country", said the magnificent striker. "I want to thank all my team mates in Anderlecht, because they made these success possible. They were very nice to me as I arrived here as a 17-year old boy.." He also tried to speak some Dutch, but that didn't go very well. But he promised to work on it...

Coach Hugo Broos: "Aruna as well as Baseggio earn the trofee. Only Aruna is an attacker and therefore something more spectacularly".

National coach Aimé Antheunis: "Aruna, that is power, speed, souplesse and dribbling. The press seeks then something negative and that is that he doesn't score easily. But Ryan Giggs, Luis Figo and Zinédine Zidane aren't price shooters too."

Chairman Roger Vanden Stock: "I am quite glad with that first, second and fifth place. This is a coronation for the supertalent that Aruna is."

Team mate Walter Baseggio: "Aruna is the deserved winner. No, I'm not disappointed, I am cheerfully that a team mate has won. What the reason is for the large difference between us? I have no idea..."
