At the side of Genk they are convinced that the defeat in the cup will have an effect on Anderlecht this weekend. “Not true!”, said De Boeck and Van Holsbeeck. “They are only playing a game to influence us.”

“Genk likes to play a game with us,” thinks assistant coach De Boeck. “They don’t have to say that we need the title more than them. Anderlecht and Genk both want to be champion. Genk are trying to put some pressure on our shoulders. The pressure always lies with Anderlecht. It’s always been like that.”

Manager Van Holsbeeck agrees with De Boeck: “I’m not worried about Genk. They just want to put all the pressure on our shoulders. It’s part of the game, I guess. But I prefer to be 2 points ahead than trail two points behind.”

The manager concludes: “The game against Brussels will be one of the most important of the year. It won’t be easy. I hope that Charleroi will go all the way against Genk.”
