The future Belgian Champion will not qualify directly for next year's Champions League. In order to take part in the tournament, Anderlecht or Racing Genk will have to get past one or two qualification rounds first.

The Belgian runner-up will start in the second qualifier. Both Genk and Anderlecht will be among the top ranked teams and thus evade bigger names such as Glasgow Rangers, Rosenborg and Red Star Belgrade. Potential opponents could be IF Elsborg (Swe), Hafnarfjordur (Ice), Sheriff Tiraspol (Mol), Ventspils (Let), Derry City (Ire), Kaunas (Lat), Tampere (Fin) or the champion of Slovenia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Georgia or Macedonia.

The Belgian Champion will immediately start in the third and last qualifier. Anderlecht is certain to be among the top ranked and evades teams from the top leagues. Opponents such as Dinamo Zagreb or Red Star Belgrade are possibilities.
