"I prefer a lead of two points than that we trail behind, of course, but it has its disadvantages as well. Last year we barely escaped a defeat at Ghent," said Vercauteren.

"I hope the players maintain their concentration, unlike in the game against Zulte-Waregem. Today we trained mainly on the physical level, but from now on we're going to mount the pressure on the players."

"After Zulte-Waregem, I started to look at the cup differently. The league remains the most important thing for us. Luckily our next opponent AA Ghent is still in the cup too."

The coach also had a discussion with captain Bart Goor concerning his stature as bench-player in last friday's game. "That choice proves that there are no untouchables in the team," said Vercauteren. "It is of course difficult for him to accept, but there's no dishonour in it. He knew that this could happen. I'm still counting on him and hope he can elevate his level."
