The clash with Genk ended in a draw. It appeared both teams were happy not to lose the game. Especially Genk were relieved to score the equaliser after Anderlecht scored in the first half. Vercauteren saw a good performance.

"We played a good first half," analysed the Anderlecht coach. "In the second half we didn't succeed in achieving that same level. But that was to be expected. Why? Boussoufa had to be stitched after a flesh wound, Biglia got injured, these things inevitably have an influence on the game. It's normal that things don't go as smoothly then. At times it resembled a battle. I thought it was a bit over the top since two of our players needed stitching."

In the last quarter of the match, Vercauteren tried to make the difference by substituting Boussoufa for Tchité. Which almost succeed. The speedy striker almost managed to score. "Unfortunately he was judged to be offside," continued Vercauteren. "Anyone can make a mistake, but in this case it could have been decisive. But in the end I was not unhappy with a draw."
