Vercauteren: "My work is not finished yet"

Last monday the Anderlecht board agreed to extend coach Vercauteren's contract by a year. On top of that, it was arranged that Vercauteren would continue working with the club as technical director after his period as coach.


During today's press conference then, Vercauteren thanked the Anderlecht board for the faith they have put into him and commented on the surge of criticism after sunday's match against Club Bruges.

"From the moment I was born I was attached to this club, so to speak. More than anyone else I realise that the club and its fans expect more than mere results. The fans have high expectations for each game: results and beautiful gameplay. I'd like to stress the fact that we strive for that as well and are working hard to achieve that aim every single day. It is obvious that we are capable of better performances than those of the last couple of weeks. I am convinced that my work for this club is not yet finished"
