Yesterday Anderlecht chairman Roger Vanden Stock had a new meeting with Anderlecht mayor Simonet concerning the new stadium. An expansion of the present stadium seems no longer an option. A decision is expected around easter.

Mayor Simonet has faith that the club will remain in Anderlecht: "If the municipality presents attractive options, I believe Sporting will maintain its base in Anderlecht." He sees two major possibilities for a new location. The first being Neerpede, the other the region called Kleine Eiland which is presently an industrial zone. "Personally, I would opt for Neerpede since it is located near the club's youth training facilities," said the Anderlecht mayor.

Additionally, Simonet claims the new stadium could serve as the home base for the Belgian national team as well.
