While Daniel Zitka is playing already the whole season on a high level, he doesn't get a chance in the Czech national team. However, he was almost playing with the Red Devils, but his wife prevented this.

"Three years ago, my wife and I considered to stay in Belgium after my career. And with a Belgian passport it would have been a lot easier." But meanwhile his wife changed her opinion and the Zitka family are now moving back to their native country once the career of Zitka is over. "And she is the boss, like anywhere else probably", according to the goalkeeper.

In the interview with La Dernière Heure, Zitka admits that he will be disillusioned if he never plays for his country but it's not his nature to put pressure on the national coach for a chance. "I won't be frustrated when I end my career without a national selection for the Czech Republic, he states. "I will not cry and I will not feel betrayed."
