Anderlecht weren't able to qualify for the UEFA-Cup. Lille beat Milan with 0-2, but also the Mauves didn't win. They gave away a 2-0 lead against AEK Athens. The game ended on a 2-2 draw.

It was a more or less balanced game with chances for both team. The first one was for AEK, but Deschacht prevented an early goal. Frutos and Biglia created some danger for the home side with shots from distance.

Vanden Borre opened the score in the first half. Frutos broke through but his center was intercepted. He stole the ball from the defender again. After a blocked shot, the ball came to Vanden Borre who scored: 1-0.

In the second half, AEK took control over the game and Zitka had to save Anderlecht for a few times. But the Mauves kept on counter-attacking well. It was Frutos who doubled the lead: 2-0.

A little bit later, it was almost 3-0, but the chance was missed. A few minutes later, the Anderlecht defense gave away too much spance and AEK scored with a header: 2-1.

Vercauteren then swapped Frutos for Legear to defend the lead, but one minute later it was 2-2. From then on, both sides went for the victory. AEK created some danger on free kicks and corner kicks. But the best opportunities were for the Belgian champions. Three open chances were missed and the game ended in a draw.
