Anderlecht lost the Trofeo Bernabéu against Real Madrid, but they made a good performance tonight. The final score was 2-1. Anderlecht played with an entirely different team in the second half, except for Olivier Deschacht.

Real controlled the first part of the game. Raúl and Van Nistelrooy had a couple of good chances, and that resulted in a goal after twenty minutes. Ruud Van Nistelrooy beat goalie Davy Schollen, and doubled the score ten minutes later. Anderlecht was not able to threaten Madrid, only Allagui had a good opportunity to score a goal for the Mauves.

Vercauteren changed ten players during the break, and those changes paid off. Frutos and Vanderhaeghe had some good chances, Anderlecht played attacking and put Real under pressure. It was youngster Siani who scored the goal for Anderlecht, and it was well-deserved. Mbark Boussoufa and Lucas Biglia were the two best players for Anderlecht, but they were not able to score the equalizer for the Mauves.
